Visiting Vancouver
I moved to Vancouver in June of 1990, and have loved this city ever since!
This page will highlight some of my favourite things, places to eat, things to do, and shops to support!
Ashiana Tandoori is a new discovery! Located on Kingsway just north of King Edward Avenue, Ashiana serves tasty Indian dishes. We bicycled there, a short ride from our home near Kingsway and Nanaimo,(a little chilly on a night in mid February, but we dressed for warmth) and found the place nearly empty on a Saturday night. Excellent service, and incredibly tasty food, along with a super deal (we have a discount card from the Entertainment book, so one of our entrees was free AND they will let us continue to use the card over and over, instead of the common one-time use), will bring me back. (Chris has been here before, and his workplace regularly brings in dinner from Ashiana when their staff are asked to work late) Recommended: Veggie pakora to start, then the butter chicken (called something else on the menu, but the servers will know), and a tasty chef’s platter with tandoori chicken, rice, a yoghurt dish, dahl soup, naan and tasty potatoes. The Milk Ball of dessert was tiny, but intensely sweet enough to serve both of us by the time we made it through the meal. Highly recommended. With discount and tip, $27 for two (drinking water, lots of it, refilled throughout the meal whenever we had reached half-empty.. did I mention the amazing service?)
